Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, located at No. 1375 Panda Avenue, Chenghua District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, is a world-renowned giant panda relocation and protection base, scientific research and breeding base, public education base and educational tourism base. The base covers an area of 3,570 acres, of which 2,535 acres are in the expansion area, and is about 10 kilometres away from the city centre with convenient transportation. It is not only a paradise for giant pandas, but also an important place for scientific research and protection.
Since its establishment, the base has overcome key technical problems in giant panda artificial feeding and management, reproduction and brood rearing through innovative scientific research, and successfully bred many giant pandas, making it the world's largest captive giant panda artificial breeding population. In addition, the base also actively participates in international cooperative research on giant pandas, making important contributions to the global giant panda conservation cause.
