Shangri-La

Shangri-La, located in the northern part of China's Yunnan Province, is a place of mystery and untouched beauty. Originally known as Diqing, it was officially renamed Shangri-La County in 2001 because of its mystical and romantic flavour. Shangri-La is one of the closest places to paradise in the world, famous for its high altitude, mysterious Tibetan Buddhist culture, magnificent natural scenery and unique ethnic customs.

Shangri-La's breathtaking natural scenery mainly includes Meili Snow Mountain, Napa Sea and Pudacuo National Park. Meili Snow Mountain is one of the sacred mountains in the Tibetan area, with an altitude of more than 6,000 metres, with its rolling snowy peaks and glacial canyons, making it a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and photographers. Napa Sea is a plateau lake, where water and sky meet, surrounded by mountains, a habitat for migratory birds and a paradise for bird-watching enthusiasts. Pudacuo National Park, on the other hand, is one of Shangri-La's calling cards, a collection of mountains, meadows, forests, lakes and other natural landscapes, with a rich variety of wildlife, making it an excellent place to explore the natural ecology.

In addition to the natural landscape, Shangri-La also has a rich human landscape. It is inhabited by many ethnic groups such as Tibetans, Naxi and Yi, each of which maintains its own traditional customs and cultural flavour. The ancient city of Shangri-La is a typical Tibetan-style architectural complex, with long lanes and alleys, and the houses are mostly wooden structures with flying eaves and corners, with a strong Tibetan style. Temples such as Songzanlin Monastery and Baiju Monastery are indispensable cultural landscapes in Shangri-La, and the murals, statues and other artefacts inside the temples are precious and exquisite, attracting a large number of believers and tourists to come to worship and visit.

Overall, Shangri-La is not only a destination of natural beauty, but also an example of cultural heritage and ethnic customs. It combines the magnificence of highland nature with the long history of Tibetan Buddhist culture, and has become a bright tourism pearl in southwest China, attracting tourists from all over the world to explore its mystery and beauty.
